MIDI files using Windows default .mid filetype opener (defined in Windows system Folder Options/Filetypes settings). You can set there the program that Windows/SCOM will launch when you double-click .mid files.

When using a general MIDI player the output can be routed to "virtual cables" to your software synths for immediate playback though MidiYoke and LoopBe.
