Do you want to create an auto-run CD menu Design a product or company presentation on CD Create CD auto-run brochures, slide shows or business cards Make sure that Html, Pdf and Pps files start reliably from your CD Well, a CD auto-run designer can give you a hand! Here I will recommend such a CD launch menu creator to you. That is AutoRun Architect which came from 7bear Software Inc. Come on with me and experiences its powerful functions and advantages now!
AutoRun Architect is a tool to create custom CD menus that will automatically launch when the CD is inserted. It enables us to create advanced AutoRun menus for CDs and DVDs that are to be launched on a computer. We can choose between quiet installations or launch menus that allow the user to install files or run programs and documents from the CD. The program can also install included viewers (if no viewer is found for a specified file type), read registry values, pass parameters to executables, display a splash screen, license agreement and more. AutoRun Architect can also implement password protected AutoRuns, that require the user to enter a username/password or authentication code in order to continue the CD launch, however this option does not protect the actual files on the CD, only the AutoRun menu. Overall, AutoRun Architect is a very flexible tool to create simple as well as advanced CD/DVD launchers. Unfortunately it does not include any launcher templates or even graphical buttons that we can use, so the actual splash screen needs to be designed separately.
Here are some key functions and benefits of AutoRun Architect:
1. AutoRun Architect is incredibly easy to use. It allows us to easily create AutoRuns that we can include on our CDs, DVDs or any other removable media. The AutoRun Wizard of AutoRun Architect takes us step-by-step through the task of creating an AutoRun that will display a splash screen, install software and launch our file or program when the CD is inserted in the drive. Our AutoRun can be run as a quiet, single sequence or through a customized HTML browser window offering the user options to choose. But only with a purchased version of AutoRun Architect can we create AutoRuns that will run on other people's computer.
2. AutoRun Architect allows us to use a trial version of the program. This trial version includes all the features of the purchased version but any AutoRun we create will only work on this computer. In order to create AutoRuns that we can include on our CDs for other people, we must purchase and activate the product.
3. AutoRun Architect is highly customizable. It allows us to define certain features for the AutoRun we want to create. All AutoRuns support security, license, installing software and launching selected files. However, they differ in the way these and other features are displayed. Graphic AutoRuns display a customized HTML browser window when the CD is inserted into the drive. The window has one or more options for the user to choose. The user can then select how he wants to proceed.
4. AutoRun Architect provides a preview function for us. After we have defined the basic features for our AutoRun, we can create an AutoRun that can be included on CDs. When we click the Create button, AutoRun Architect compiles all the files and writes them on the CDs. We can now test the AutoRun or burn the CD if we like.
5. With AutoRun Architect we can define one or more files to be installed. The files will be installed in the order they appear in the list. We can edit, delete or change the order of files in the list at any time. We may want to install a default viewer for the files if the user does not have one on his computer. For example, if we are launching a PDF file, we may want to include Adobe Acrobat Reader software on our CD and install it if the user does not already have it installed. The AutoRun can initiate installations of software needed to run our program. The installation can be set only to run when needed or we can allow the user to skip the installation.
6. With AutoRun Architect we can define one or more files to be launched. The files will be launched in the order they appear in the list. We can edit, delete or change the order of files in the list at any time. The AutoRun can launch one or more files. These files can be executable files or regular files, which are run using their default viewers.
7. With AutoRun Architect we can specify one or more directories on the CD to be searched exclusively for drivers. This is used by Windows XP when searching for a driver to install and is not part of the regular the AutoRun operations.
8. The AutoRun Window is an HTML browser window, which is displayed when the CD is inserted in the drive. First we must create the HTML file for the contents of the Autorun Window, give the window a name and define its size and location. This option is only available for the Graphic AutoRun type. AutoRun Architect allows us to define the buttons that appear on the AutoRun Window. Typical options are Install, Run, Help and Exit. However, we can add as many buttons are we want with whatever functions we wish.
