BitTally Monitor is network traffic monitoring software. It's not a low-level "packet sniffer", like those used mostly by network administrators, programmers, and other geek types. BitTally is for normal people-like managers, parents, etc.-who want to know what is going on on their networks.
What it does:
1. Collects network traffic statistics (by user, network, application protocol, layer 4 protocol, web domain, content category, and country).
2. Detects suspicious network activities or abnormal traffic conditions in real time (e.g. to identify peer-to-peer network users, E-mail abusers, recreational surfers at work, abnormally high round-trip times, etc.)
3. Kills or redirects unwanted connections.
Like low-level sniffers, Monitor captures packets from a hub or a mirror port of a switch. In the simplest configuration Monitor may run on the single user's computer and watch traffic on one or more of its network interfaces.
Monitor works in off-line mode, i.e. it just needs to see packets (as opposed to being in the path of the traffic, forwarding packets from one interface to another). Nevertheless, if desired, it can control traffic by injecting spoofed TCP reset or HTTP redirect packets.
Monitor is not a GUI application; it runs as a service. Any web browser may be used to control it, locally or remotely. A GUI client application is also available.
Requirements:
* WinPcap
Limitations:
* It can only track traffic of 5 users and it does not support capture action.
