Plan your sailboat races using this handy application. Bluewater Racing is a free program that provides strategic tools to help you win long-distance sailboat races. A Tool for Long-Distance Yacht Racing and Cruising.

Bluewater Racing Lite Features:
1. Display and edit routes.
2. Interface to GPS units.
3. Support a selection of chart formats, including: a built-in highly-detailed global planning chart; BSB format charts (freely available from NOAA); arbitrary raster images (JPEG, GIF, etc., assuming the image uses a standard map projection); arbitrary vector charts in a simple text format.
4. Display, examine, and manipulate multiple GRIB weather files.
5. Display weather images, and track your route across them.
6. Examine and manipulate boat performance "polar" files.
7. Combine polar performance data with forecast winds to estimate travel time along routes.
8. Compute optimal routes, combining boat performance with multiple wind forecast files of varying precision.
9. Track competitors.

When first installed, a sample race is displayed, for a Transpac race. You can modify these routes as you please, or create a new race by using the "New" menu command. Several other sample race files are available in the races subdirectory. The paccup.gpx file contains actual tracks from boats racing in the 2008 Pacific Cup race.

Sample GRIB files are available in the "gribs" directory.

You can change the configuration of the program through the preferences menu, then save the new configuration to your preferences file, which is located in the \Application Data\bluewater subfolder of your user folder. This file can be edited by hand, and if you mess it up, just copy over it with the file "bluewater.example.pref".
