Celestia is a free, real-time, 3D space visualization program. You can use it to view our Solar System and the surrounding stars from any viewpoint you like -- from the surface of the Earth, from outside the Galaxy, or trailing along behind the Cassini Saturn probe. Half of the fun is contributing your own efforts to improve the environment it provides.

Celestia is a stunning program to observe and explore the Solar System and beyond. To help you discover a few of its beauty and secrets, Celestia has a short journey already laid out for you. An application for real-time 3D visualization of space, with a detailed model of the solar system, over 100,000 stars, more than 10,000 galaxies, and an extension mechanism for adding more objects.

Celestia doesn't confine you to the surface of the Earth as do many other programs. Instead, Chris created a dynamic capability to travel throughout the Solar System and elsewhere in space, at any speed, at any moment of time and in any direction you choose. If
you wish, you can fly via your own "hyperdrive" spacecraft to visit stars within the spiral arms of the Milky Way beyond the confines of our Sun, or leave the galaxy entirely to view the bigger universe from deep space. Chris also insisted this program would be scientifically accurate a true source of dynamic astronomical graphics.
