DBEdit2 is a database editing tool, written in Java, which is suitable as a front-end GUI for your Oracle, DB2 or MySQL database.
Its aim is to use the features of JDBC to their fullest.
DBEdit's core functionalities provide aid to common data editing tasks and reporting, as well as database synchronization.
Data Editing
1. Update records by directly editing the result grid.
2. Insert, edit, delete and duplicate records.
3. Open, export and import BLOB's and CLOB's.
4. Run scripts.
5. Schema browser.
6. Save favorites.
Reporting
* Export results to Excel, PDF or a flat file.
Database synchronization
1. Copy and paste BLOB's and CLOB's.
2. Export results to insert statements.
At startup, the connection manager is shown. You can connect to databases, add, edit, delete or duplicate them.
1. Oracle oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver jdbc:oracle:thin:@[server]:[port]:[SID] jdbc:oracle:thin:@dbserver.mycompany.com:1521:mydb
2. DB2 com.ibm.db2.jcc.DB2Driver jdbc:db2://[server]:[port]/[SID] jdbc:db2://dbserver.mycompany.com:50000/mydb
3. MySQL com.mysql.jdbc.Driver jdbc:mysql://[server]/[SID] jdbc:mysql://dbserver.mycompany.com/mydb
4. SQLite org.sqlite.JDBC jdbc:sqlite:[filename] jdbc:sqlite:C:\Databases\mydb.db
5. HSQLDB org.hsqldb.jdbcDriver jdbc:hsqldb:[filename] jdbc:hsqldb:C:\Databases\mydb
The application can connect to basically any type of database that provides a JDBC driver. Just place the driver in the directory where the application is installed and set up a connection with the appropriate driver name. This directory is scanned for all jar and zip files prior to connecting. Though untested, basic functionality should work. Specifics, such as BLOB and CLOB handling and record editing, aren't guaranteed to work.
