DialOut/EZ COM Port Redirector
|
For converting modems to IP, virtual COM ports accept "AT" commands, dialed number is an IP address, connects to any TCP/IP endpoint. Use modem servers and share modem pools through DialOut/EZ virtual COM ports that make networked modems directly accessible.
On the client computer running DialOut/EZ
1. You add virtual COM ports using the DialOut/EZ Control Panel and configure them to use your modem server.
2. Your application uses DialOut/EZ virtual COM ports instead of local physical COM ports. If your application uses Windows modem devices, you can create them on DialOut/EZ virtual COM ports.
3. Your application opens, reads and writes virtual COM ports using the standard COM port API.
4. The DialOut/EZ Redirector automatically makes TCP/IP connections to the modem server and relays the virtual COM port data stream and control actions.
On the modem server
1. The server receives a TCP/IP connection from the DialOut/EZ redirector when a virtual COM port is opened.
2. The server automatically allocates an available modem for each DialOut/EZ connection.
3. The server converts the data stream and control signals and relays them to the modem.
4. The modem initiates a modem call on the PSTN. For servers with more than 8 modems, digital modems and PRI (T1/E1) lines are commonly used.
