Electric OWL can log data from your OWL energy monitor on your PC via a USB connect device. The Electric OWL software comes in three parts.

1. OWL Server
This software must run all the time on the computer that has the OWL USB connect device attached. It is responsible for reading electricity usage data from the OWL USB connect device and saving it so that it may be accessed when required. This software requires that the Microsoft .NET framework is installed on the computer.

2. CM160Server
This software allows must run in order to connect to the OWL+USB (CM160) device. This device records data into internal memory when not connected to computer. When connected to a computer (via a USB port) running the CM160 server the historical data is downloaded before reading the current (real time) energy usage data.

3. Electric OWL
This software provides a graphical user interface in order to show electricity usage data in real time and also to show historical electricity usage data. This software may run on the same computer as above or any other computer that can reach the above computer on a network. This software requires that Java is installed on the computer.
