EncrypByte is a freeware beta file encryption/decryption software. It uses an algorithm designed by WinSimple Software. It allows you to select multiple passes (how many times the file should be encrypted). The more passes you select, the more secure your file is, but the longer it will take to encrypt/decrypt the file. You cannot specify a password. In fact, there is no need to use a password to encrypt/decrypt a file with EncrypByte. All you need to remember is the number of passes that you selected when you encrypted the file. The number of passes needed to decode the file is not stored in the file so that it will be that much harder for the hacker to decrypt the file's contents. EncrypByte also has mode called "Unrecoverable File Destruction Mode" that allows you to securely destroy documents; it encrypts the file with the specified number of passes, then deletes the file.
