Hickory
|
Software for analysis of geographic structure in genetic data. Estimate F-statistics co-dominant marker data with the help of this utility. Hickory provided here implements the Bayesian method described in Holsinger (1999) for estimating F-statistics co-dominant marker data and the method described in Holsinger et al. (2002) for estimating F-statistics from dominant marker data. It also includes routines to allow posterior comparisons as described in Holsinger and Wallace (2004).
Most users will probably prefer the GUI, but the command-line version is more convenient if you have a large data set that you want to run in the background or if you want to do some exploratory simulations. It use the command-line version in our own simulation work with Hickory. The analytical routines use exactly the same code in both versions. Only the user interface is different.
The graphical user interface makes it easy to choose your data sets and analyses. There are only small differences between the Linux and Windoze versions, so we don't discuss them separately. The only significant difference is in how you start Hickory: To start Hickory under Windoze, double click the Hickory icon or select it from the Start Menu in the Hickory Program Group.1 Under Linux start it from a command shell or a desktop shortcut like any other program.
