Jovian Features:
1. Selectable Color Models
2. Color Wheel with Adjustable Complements
3. Gamma Compensation
4. Integer and Floating Point Color Values
5. Pick from Image and Screen ability
6. Customizable Color Library
7. History Color Mixer
1. Replace the Windows Color Picker
The newest feature in Jovian is its ability to override the standard Windows color picker, meaning that anywhere you would've had to use the Windows color picker you'll instead get to use Jovian.
Along with the Windows color picker, Jovian can also override the color pickers in the following software:
* Adobe Photoshop CS1-CS4
* Adobe Illustrator CS4
2. Selectable Color Models
Jovian let you select a color using a number of different adjustments. You can adjust the color's Red, Green and Blue elements, or its Hue, Saturation and Value. You can also pick a color based on a Color Temperature (Kelvin) or Wavelength (nm).
Choosen colors can also be limited to only those in the Web Safe (216 colors) or Web Smart (4,096 colors) palettes.
3. Color Wheel with Adjustable Complements
Jovian's Color Wheel lets you easily see what the current color's Complementary colors are.
The Wheel's Complement Adjust value can be used to change the angle between the primary color and its complementary color(s).
Each color below the wheel can be clicked to make it the current color. All the colors can also be saved using the Color Exporter.
4. Color Mixer
By using a series of sliders, the Color Mixer can be used to create new colors by mixing together up to nine different colors. Each slider can be given a custom color.
Includes seven Blending Types, for changing how the colors are mixed together.
5. Customizable Color Library with History
Jovian's Color Library lets you store and import large numbers of colors.
A text field above the Library can be used to perform a search of the colors' names. Or you can find colors with a similarity to the current color.
The Color History is a folder in the Library which contains the recently chosen colors.
6. Pick from Image and Screen ability
Jovian's Pick From Image window has the ability to sample just the pixel you clicked on, or sample and average the pixels in a 3x3 or 5x5 grid around the clicked pixel.
The Multi-Click Sampling feature allows you to click on up to four different areas of an image and have those areas sampled and combined to create the average color of all the clicks.
Jovian's Pick From Screen button lets you pick a color from anywhere on the screen using the same 1 pixel, 3x3 or 5x5 sampling as the Pick From Image window.
7. Gamma Compensation
When working in a gamma corrected workflow, Jovian can compensate returned colors. Or gamma correct the already compensated incoming color.
8. Integer and Floating Point Color Values
Jovian can display RGB and HSV inputs as integers from 0 to 255 or as floating point numbers from 0.0 to 1.0. Internally Jovian stores values as floating point numbers for greater precision.
Limitations:
* 10 color picks per session, after the 10 picks only black or white will be returned.
* The Color Exporter is disabled. However a sample of the exported file formats is available
* in the installer and .zip files in the Sample Exported Files folder.
* Switching to the Web Safe or Web Smart color palettes is disabled.
* Importing color files to the Color Library is disabled. Jovian will still load its default Library
* file, but no changes will be saved.
