You have some files with .mkv extension, so you are wondering how could you get them play on your HD XviD capable player or Playstation console. You very well know that Playstation 3 and Playstation 2 cannot handle neither the extension (mkv) nor the container nor the video streams inside the container - usually MPEG4/ISO/AVC/x264 video + AC3/MP3/DTS audio. This software is to "open" the container, extract the audio streams and then later convert the video to the format that your console / XviD player copes with - DivX/XviD video + AC3/MP3 audio in an AVI container.

In rare cases you would have DTS audio tracks instead of ac3/mp3. PS3 should be able to play DTS, but not in AVI container. If this is your case, you have to re-encode the audio, too. GUI uses eac3to audio encoder to re-encode DTS to AC3, preserving all channels.

MKV2AVI Features:
1. Convert any video stream inside a MKV container to XviD video in AVI container (via DirectShow)

3. Convert DTS/AAC/MP3 audio streams to AC3 with bitrate conversion and downmixing or
4. Convert AC3 audio streams to Dolby Pro Logic II (2ch downmix) with bitrate conversion
5. (first video stream and selected audio stream are muxed into the final output AVI container)
6. Create Blu-Ray / AVCHD compatible output (using tsmuxer) without re-encoding.
7. Compatible with PS3 with AVC profiles up to 4.1
8. If Blu-Ray or AVCHD buttons are used, no re-encoding is performed.
9. Selected audio track is included in final compilation
10. All subtitle tracks from the source mkv are included
11. If .srt files with same name as the source mkv are found, they are added, too
12. For best results, use these buttons if your source video is full 16:9 (1280x720 or 1920x1080)
