PixTagger
|
Utility to browse and tag-categorise picture collections, with emphasis on high performance when using huge collections . Focus is mainly on performance using multithreading and KV-databases, whereas the gui receives much less attention. Create and browse picture collections with this tool.
PixTagger Features:
1. Handles millions of picture files
2. Handles millions of hierarchical description tags
Tagger is a program used for managing picture collections using a tagging approach. Pixgui is the graphical frontend for Tagger.
Tagger addresses the problems of "a picture is more than a file". A picture has to it a number of attributes that cannot be expressed by a file system location alone. When a picture collection becomes larger, it becomes unmanageable and pictures can no longer easily be "found".
Tags is user definable and is organized in a tree structure, following all conventions for such. Tagger implements a "Gmail"-a'like tagging-feature, except Tagger offers a hierarchical tree structure for the tagging database, whereas Gmail does not.
This makes it possible to categorize pictures in a personal way, not depending on storage details. As an implicit benefit, the program performs nicely as a picture viewer.
The program generates and caches icons (thumbnails) of all pictures encountered and displays them for possible double-click viewing.
The MDI screen consist of three windows.
