Extend the RENAME command. RenEx is a Windows program that extends the way to rename a file.
Using RenEx
You should start RenEx from command prompt or from another program or batch.
Command Line Options
RenEx supports the following command-line options:
usage: RenEx [ file [path] [/c] [/w:1|2|3|4] [/s:Text] [/e:Text] [/o] [/v] [/?] | [/h]]
file File to be renamed adding the time stamp.
path Path where the file will be moved or copied (optional).
/c Change the default behaviour from rename/move to copy the file.
/s:text Text to add at the start of time stamp (time stamp preamble).
/e:text Text to add at the end of time stamp (time stamp postamble).
/o Force overwriting the destination if it already exists.
/v Activate the verbose mode (display some info).
/w:type Specifies where to put the time stamp. The /w:Type parameter can be one 1, 2, 3 and 4 (default is 1). It allows you to specify the time stamp location in the full file name using the following map: FILEPATH\1FILENAME2.3EXTENSION4
/? Displays command-line usage (this help).
/h Displays command-line usage (this help).
If you run RenExwithout any parameter you get the above help.
Return Value
RenEx fails the return value is non-zero otherwise the return value is zero.
