SampliFile
|
SampliFile is a database for samples and sounds. SampliFile can read the following media:
- AKAI S1000 / S3000 sampling CDs
- WAV sampling CDs
- Audio sampling CDs
- fixed filesystem data: WAV files and Pulsar generated AKAI samples and programs (.s / .p - files)
SampliFile stores everything from those media in its database: sample and program names, loop settings, tuning settings, all program playback parameters (envelopes, LFOs, filter settings, panning, modulation settings etc.) and a lot more. Plus it stores the audio data itself in the database.
Once filed in the database, all samples, sounds and programs can be auditioned, played using the internal software sampler or a SF2-capable soundcard and exported without the need for having the original media handy.
Samples can be compressed in variuos ways, audio CD tracks can be split into subregions when being uploaded to the database.
SampliFile features a powerful search engine: you can search for samples and programs by name, using wildcard-based search expressions, or you can search programs by certain categories.
Not every PC CDROM drive is capable of reading audio CDs in raw mode. Most modern drives will, but some older models simply can't.
Some (older) CDROM drive models will read audio, though having problems reading it correctly. The audio may sound distorted and be spoiled with crackles in this case. The next version of SampliFile will include a jitter correction algorithm, which can avoid this problem.
Requirements:
* DirectX-compatible soundcard (SF2-compatible soundcard recommended)
* DirectX 6.1 or higher
Limitations:
* Only 10 media can be uploaded into the database; one out of four folders / banks / audio tracks cant be viewed;
* SF2 export does not work.
