View the gradient of a scalar field with this software. Scalar Field Gradient Model displays the gradient of a scalar field using a numerical approximation to the partial derivatives. This simple teaching model also shows how to display and model scalar and vector fields using EJS.

The scalar field is stored in the scalarData 2D array and the vector field components are stored in the xGradData and yGradData arrays. The EJS Vector Field Element show the vector field using small color-coded arrows.

EJS Exercise: Open the EJS model and examine the vector field inspector in the model's view to see how the xGradData and yGradData arrays are passed from the model to the view.
