Snap is a great Free Software program to help you manage your digital photos. It lets you group all your photos by date and lets you embed keywords and captions directly in the image files. Since the information is stored in the files themselves-not as part of a separate database-it stays with your photos if you share them on CD or via the internet.

Organize your images with this tool. Snap is an easy to use photo organizer and viewer designed to use metadata fields in the pictures to store info like keywords and captions. It does not rely on a database or file system hierarchy, making it very flexible. It aims to be intuitive but not simplistic.

Snap stores all the label and keyword information in the pictures themselves, so that other applications that "understand" the standard can read the labels and captions, too.
This means that you can organize all your photos with Snap, share the files with friends, and they can see all your captions and keywords in Snap without having to keep the files organized the same way on their computers or having to share configuration files.

Snap loads all the photos in your My Pictures folder (we'll add a way to customize this very soon), and then you can organize them and apply or remove labels. Note that the first time you start Snap, it will create a cache of all your pictures to help speed up loading. This step is a little slow at this point (we're working on speeding it up). After this, startup should be much faster.
