The application is designed to split and join files into smaller pieces. Splitter & Merger is a tool whose main function is to split large files into smaller ones. Splitter & Merger is able to compress files before splitting them. With a reduced file, fewer parts are generated and as a result the split file is
easier to transport.
As opposed to many similar tools, Splitter & Merger splits the files at very high speed. Its reduced size of 29Kb makes it very easy to transport and compared to similar products it doesn't depend on external files (DLLs, OCXs, etc.) other than those standard provided with Windows.
Splitter & Merger can generate the first part as an executable module (SFX). As a result S&M can rejoin the parts again in another computer without S&M installed.
Splitter & Merger can integrate with the Windows shell. Now users can split any file by right-clicking on it and choosing "Split with Splitter & Merger". In a similar way the parts can be rejoined easily by right-clicking the appropriate .SPL file and choosing "Merge" from the Windows context menu.
Splitter & Merger can split files easily by dragging any file and dropping it over S&M icon (and rejoin files by dragging the appropriate .SPL file). Splitter & Merger can generate the parts directly to a removable unit (like diskettes) and also make disk spanning. To do this you must select "autodetect" as the part size. (Read the manual for more details.)
Splitter & Merger has no limit to the size of the file to split. It can split files bigger than 4.2 GB without problems.
