XBList will display your Xbox Live friends and show what games they are playing. You must be signed into Xbox.com in Internet Explorer for the program to work. You also must have an Xbox.com account (you need to be able to see your friends list on the "My Xbox" page of Xbox.com). Make sure when you log into Passport that you check the option to have it save your email address and password. Also, you may need to give it some time to get all the Gamer Tiles / Halo emblems after it launches.

Because XBList shares cookies with Internet Explorer. Fortunately, sign-in is the only thing you have to use Internet Explorer for. XBList will open all other web pages with whatever your preferred browser is. And once you're signed in, you shouldn't ever have to sign in again.

XBList downloads the Friends List page from Xbox.com and reformats it to look nicer, and adds in the Halo emblems and Gamer Tiles and categories, etc. Thus, if Xbox.com goes down or has problems, XBList stops working. I don't know any better way to get the Friends List.
