D-Amp
|
D-Amp is a free media player for the Windows operating system. It features changeable skins and is based on the BASS audio library which uses DirectX providing clean, crisp sound. Features loop/shuffle playback, spectrum analyzer, equalizer with presets and a playlist editor.
The name D-Amp comes from two words, the first being digital as we're in the digital world playing digital media and amplifier (meaning turning information back into sound).
D-Amp is based around the BASS audio libraries and uses DirectX (DirectSound and DirectShow) making it a very versatile player. The GUI design is based on the old-style WinAmp which was (and still is) very successful.
D-Amp is currently capable of playing the following media formats:
1. Audio (WMA,MP3, WAV, AFC, OGG, FLAC, WV, APE and AIF)
2. Audio CD (CDA and CDDA)
3. Video (WMV, AVI, MP4, FLV, MPG [1 and 2], MOV and MKV)
Other media formats will eventually be implemented through later versions. Currently D-Amp is still in it's beta stages and will still require a lot of beta testing until proven to be stable. Stability also depends on the BASS library plugin files and the authors correcting bugs within those libraries.
General Settings
These settings will be broken down into their individual items with a short description of their purpose below:
1. Minimize to system tray on close: when the close button of the main player window is clicked, it is sent to the system tray (but still resident in memory) which allows it to continue playing in the background, but without the need to have it displayed on screen. The only way to close the player is to right-click the icon in the system tray and select exit .
2. Auto-scroll song name in display window: if the song name is longer than what the window can display (around 32 characters) it will scroll it from right to left.
3. Auto-highlight song name in playlist window: the currently playing song will be automatically highlighted in the playlist window (if it is open).
4. Allow multi-selection in playlist window: simply allows you to select more than one title at a time with the control or shift keys (and the left mouse button) for use with removing items.
5. Keep video window open after playback complete: the video window will not close after the video has completed.
6. Auto-detect when CD's are inserted: detects when CD's are inserted (while program is running either on screen or in system tray) and displays the table of contents (TOC) in the playlist window.
7. Begin automatic playback: used only with the option above, will begin playback of the CD after the TOC has been read and updated in the playlist window.
8. Cache un-saved playlists: playlists that are not saved before the player is closed get automatically saved to a temporary file and reloaded when the player is next opened.
9. Loop restarts from top when playlist ends: normally, loop plays through the playlist sequentially once, but if this option is selected it will restart from the beginning of the playlist once the end is reached (continuous play).
10. Show "now playing" song info in MSN: allows everyone on your MSN contacts list to see what song you are playing with D-Amp,
