DirectPrint is a utility that allows you to send device-dependent files to your printer(s) in RAW format. This means the files are not interpreted by the Windows operating system or any applications running on Windows, but must instead be understood by your printer.

Examples of file types for which you SHOULD use DirectPrint:
1. .PS files (Postscript Files)
2. .EPS files (Encapsulated Postscript Files)
3. .TXT files (Text Files)
4. .PRN files (Files Formatted for the Printer)
5. .PCL files (HP Printer Control Language Files)
6. .ZPL files (Zebra Printer Label Files)

When you start it, you are presented with a wizard-style dialog that will guide you through the process of sending a file to your printer. Selecting the first choice, "Send a file to the printer" will take you to the next screen in the wizard, where you can select a file to print and a destination printer. The second option, "Configure automatic printing" gives you more advanced control of how it interacts with Windows, and lets you configure options for bypassing the wizard-style interface.

When it is launched by the opening of an associated file type, it can open the printer selection wizard, or it can automatically send the file to a pre-selected printer, without any confirmation from the user.

By default, it opens the file and printer selection wizard when it starts, even if a file is passed to it on the command line. However, you can configure it to automatically send a file specified on the command line directly to a pre-defined printer. To do this, choose the "Automatically send file to the following printer:" option, and select your desired destination printer.

DirectPrint will send a form feed command to the printer after each print job. On some printers it may be necessary to add a newline character in order for the printer to recognize the command, or to correctly align the following page. Check this box if you are running into similar issues.

Command line
You can start this program and pass it a file to print from the command line by simply specifying the path and filename of the file after the it executable. If you have configured for automatic printing, the file will be sent directly to the configured destination printer. Otherwise, it will open to the file and printer selection wizard page with the specified filename pre-selected.
