LocateOpener
|
Locate your associated applications for a specific filetype with this tool. LocateOpener helps you finding the associated application of a given filetype, and also helps you identifying unknown files.
By default, LocateOpener will open Windows Explorer and select the associated application. You can also specify custom application in LocateOpener.ini file (for example Total Commander, see LocateOpener.ini for details).
To identify an unknown file, LocateOpener uses online filetype identifier tool File Extension Seeker. User-defined online tool can also be used, see LocateOpener.ini file for details.
Files without extensions are scanned by TrID utility (mark0.net/soft-trid-e.html). If identification was successful, the file can be renamed automatically.
Application trid.exe must be placed to a "TrID" subfolder of LocateOpener, along with its definition file TrIDDefs.TRD. Definition file in this package is dated 01/07/2009, with 3793 file extension definitions. To update, download new updates and perform manual update.
LocateOpener can be used via right-clicking on a file and selecting "LocateOpener" from the context menu.
