It can detect, clean or erase malware like viruses, worms and trojan horses. It replaces the traditional fix tool by addressing a wide variety of system infections rather than a specific malware infection. This program is not to be used as a permanent anti-virus solution. You can use this tool to clean up an infected system or as a second opinion for your current anti-virus scanner.
Trend Micro System Cleaner also produces a log file in which the scanning results are stored.

Trend Micro System Cleaner Usage:
1. Create a temporary folder and copy SYSCLEAN.COM into this folder. NOTE: This temporary folder should be created on a local or mapped drive.
2. Download latest malware and spyware pattern files (see Requirements) Extract the downloaded ZIP pattern files into the created folder.
3. Close all applications running on your system, including any antivirus software.
4. Run the executable file, SYSCLEAN.COM, by either: Double-clicking the tool in Windows Explorer / Executing it via command prompt using syntax based on the aforementioned parameters.
5. Enable any antivirus software that is installed on your system and perform a manual scan. NOTE: This fix tool generates the log file, SYSCLEAN.LOG, in its current folder.

To use the Trend Micro System Cleaner, please follow the instructions below:
Step 1. Close all open programs and windows.

Step 2. Create a System Cleaner folder on your desktop where you can save the files needed to run the application. To do this, follow the steps below:
a. Right-click on any free space on your desktop.
b. Select New > Folder from the menu that appears.
c. Name the folder "System Cleaner". Note: When typing text into a field, do not include the quotation marks.

Step 3. Download Sysclean.exe and save it into the System Cleaner folder you created. Do the following:
a. Go this location to access the file:
solutionfile.trendmicro.com/solutionfile/Sysclean/EN/sysclean.exe
b. When the File Download window appears, click Save. The Save As window will appear.
c. Set the System Cleaner folder as the location for the save.
To do this, click Desktop on the left pane, then double-click System Cleaner on the right pane.
d. Click Save.
e. Wait for the download to complete, and then click Close.

Step 4. To allow the System Cleaner to automatically download necessary files, start your computer in Safe Mode with Networking by following the steps below:
a. Turn off your computer.
b. Turn it back on and while the computer is starting up, press the F5 or F8 key repeatedly until you see the Windows Advanced Options Menu.
c. Use the arrow keys to select Safe Mode with Networking then hit ENTER.
If you are asked to select your operating system in order to start, select the version of Windows you are using and hit ENTER.
d. Use your account to log on to Windows.
e. When a message verifying that you are running Windows in Safe Mode appears, click Yes.

Step 5. On your desktop, double-click on the System Cleaner folder you saved the files in.
Step 6. Double-click Sysclean.exe. The DOS window will appear.
Step 7. Wait while the necessary files are downloaded.
Step 8. When the download completes and the Trend Micro System Cleaner window appears, click Scan.
Step 9. Wait for the scan to finish, and then close the DOS screen.
Step 10. Access the scan results by clicking View Log in the Trend Micro System Cleaner window.
Note: If the System Cleaner window has been closed and you still want to access the scan results, you can open the sysclean.log file indicated in the next step.
Step 11. Verify that all infected files were cleaned or removed.
