A Line Printer Daemon for your operating system. vLPD is a Line Printer Daemon for Windows.

With the arrival of Windows XP all Windows versions have software named 'Print Services for Unix'. This service is a LPD Server and is usable for production environment.

vLPD is not build to work in a production environment. It is ment as a tool to troubleshoot and solve print problems from Unix to Windows.

4. represion of banner pages
5. Converts LF to CRLF
6. Uses lpr, lprm, lpq, lpstat and lpc
7. Is RFC 1179 compliant

Although vLPD is developed to use multiple connections at once. The Windows TCP/IP Socket Control, which vLPD uses, has issues processing large files. vLPD will process large files but following jobs which are send during processing will be processed after the large proces has finished. Working with large files is slow.
