Area and Volume can calculate the area and volume for various 2D and 3D shapes such as Rectangles, Parallelograms, Prisms, Pyramids, and Spheres. To install: Download the .exe file.

How to Use the Program Previous Top Next
1. To find out the area or surface area of a shape, click on the Area tab. To find out the volume, click on the Volume tab.
2. Click on the shape to calculate the area or volume for.
3. Fill in numbers in the white fields. If any of the fields are empty, then the program will not calculate the area or volume.
4. A dialog box will pop up with the area or volume.

Please Note: For triangles, triangular prism, and triangular pyramid, the length is the same as the base, and the width is the same as the height of the triangle.

The formulas used in the program are listed below:
Area
1. Triangle
* Regular: 1/2 x length x width or 1/2 x base x width
* Heron's formula: Square root of s(s-a)(s-b)(s-c)
2. Square: length2
3. Rectangle: length x width
4. Rhombus: Diagonal 1 x Diagonal 2
5. Parallelogram: length x width
6. Circle: x radius2
7. Triangular Prism: (length x width) + (height x perimeter)
8. Rectangular Prism: 2 x (length * width) + 2 x (length + width) x height
9. Cube: length2 x 6
10. Cylinder: (2 x x radius2) + (2 x x radius x height)
11. Triangular Pyramid: (0.5 x perimeter x slant height) + (0.5 x length x width)
12. Rectangular Pyramid: ((length + width) x slant height) + (length x width)
13. Square Pyramid: (2 x length x slant height) + length2
14. Cone: (0.5 x x radius x slant height) + ( x radius2)
15. Sphere: 4 x x radius2

Volume
1. Triangular Prism: 0.5 x length x width x height
2. Rectangular Prism: length x width x height
3. Cube: length3
4. Cylinder: x radius2 x height
5. Triangular Pyramid: 1/6 x length x width x height
6. Rectangular Pyramid: 1/3 x length x width x height
7. Square Pyramid: 1/3 x length2 x height
