GlassCalc
|
GlassCalc. It's a calculator. It's so much more awesome than the windows one. GlassCalc is a simple calculator with extensive support for mathematical expressions. Instead of using buttons, it has a text-only input and keeps a full history of expressions and results. It also has full support for user-defined functions and variables.
GlassCalc is a calculator with a wholly uninspired name. Really, the only reason I called it GlassCalc is because it has an extra bit of Aero glass. That, and I couldn't find any other calculator programs called GlassCalc.
GlassCalc is designed to be used with a keyboard, not a mouse. Instead of clicking buttons, just type an expression in the Input box and hit Enter. It's really much faster that way.
GlassCalc is also something of a replacement for the XP PowerToy Calculator, which only runs on Vista and Windows 7 as an administrator, which is totally annoying.
It calculates stuff. Duh. Here's a list of some of its more prominent features:
1. You don't have to click buttons!
2. It can evaluate simple and complex mathematical expressions.
3. You can define functions and variables and use them in expressions.
4. It remembers said functions and variables when you close and open it again.
5. It can solve most equations that have solutions.
6. It can convert answers to binary, octal, or hexadecimal.
7. It supports degree and radian modes for non hyberbolic trig functions.
8. It doesn't crash, even if you enter nonsense.
9. Well, okay, I can't guarantee it doesn't crash, but I can't get it too.
10. Of course, on my dev machine, I have all the required libraries. You might not.
11. If it does crash, send me the error log so I can figure out what I screwed up.
12. It does a whole lot more stuff, just download it already and try stuff.
GlassCalc Function:
1. Complex mathematical equations in a format very similar to Microsoft Excel
2. Degree and radian trigonometric modes
3. Comprehensive list of default functions. See this image for a full list.
4. User variables: x=4+1 sets x to 5. unset x deletes x
5. User functions: f(x)=x^2+1 creates a new function f with one argument. unset f() deletes it.
6. Coefficients: 4x^2 is evaluated as 4*x^2
7. Solving equations: solve x 1? x^2+3x-10 = 4 solves x2+3x-10=4 for x with an initial guess of 1.
8. Supports input in hexadecimal (0x4E) and binary (0b1001). Output can be converted to hexadecimal, octal, or binary by adding ->hex, ->oct, or ->bin to the end of an expression.
9. User variables and functions are remembered when closing GlassCalc and are restored when reopening the program.
10. Lists of variables and functions can be saved to a text file and recalled later.
11. A whole bunch of other stuff too!
GlassCalc requires the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.
