The linkFlow computer software program enables the user to perform complex civil hydraulic design and analysis tasks in a simple manner similar to a calculator. The intent of the software is to make a hydraulic design program with a Graphical User Interface (GUI) that operates with minimal typing input or menu selection. Instead, the program responds to user input by selection of button analogues and from lists of items.

The GUI is also styled in the form of a programmable calculator which should be familiar to the typical user. The solution algorithms used in the program are state-of-the-art. If selected by the user, the program can analyze or design open channels with exible linings using methodology as specied in the latest revisions of the Federal Highway Administration HEC-15 design manual. Thus, vegetated and reinforced channels of regular or irregular section can be designed using allowable shear for the lining material.
